What the MICROMAX 7000 Does for Your Kitchen

The Four Stages, in Plain English
Water moves through the system in order, and each stage has one job. Nothing here is exotic. It is just four well understood filters arranged so each one protects the next.
- Stage one, carbon. A 5 micron graded density carbon block catches dirt, rust, and sediment down to about two ten thousandths of an inch, and pulls the chlorine out. This stage exists partly to protect the membrane behind it, because chlorine damages RO membranes.
- Stage two, ultrafiltration. A filter fine enough to act as a barrier to waterborne cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia if they are present. It is self cleaning and reduces particulate down to a ten thousandth of a micron.
- Stage three, reverse osmosis. The stage people mean when they say RO. Water molecules pass through a membrane and most dissolved solids do not, which covers sodium, selenium, arsenic, nitrates and nitrites, and dissolved metals including lead, copper, cadmium and chromium, where those are present. What gets rejected goes down the drain. What passes gets held in a sealed, sterilized tank.
- Stage four, carbon block polish. A high density carbon block finishes the water on its way out of the storage tank and takes the last of the taste and odor with it.
MICROMAX 7000 vs a Pitcher or a Fridge Filter
Worth being straight about this, because a filter pitcher is a real option and it is a lot cheaper. A pitcher or a refrigerator filter is carbon only. Carbon is good at chlorine, taste, and odor, and that is genuinely most of what people complain about. If chlorine taste is your entire problem, a pitcher will improve your life for twenty dollars.
What carbon alone does not do is reduce dissolved solids, and that is the whole point of the membrane stage. Lead, arsenic, nitrates, and the TDS load that makes water taste flat or mineral heavy all pass straight through a pitcher. So the question is not which product is better. It is whether your water has a dissolved solids problem or only a taste problem, and a test answers that in twenty minutes.
