What the MICROMAX 6000 Does for Your Kitchen
Four water treatment technologies in one slim housing, feeding a dedicated faucet at your sink. Drinking, coffee, ice, cooking, the dog bowl. The house keeps running on city water and the kitchen tap gets the finished stuff.
This is the value end of the Puronics drinking water line, and the honest description of what that means is worth reading before you decide.
"A homeowner asked me once what corner got cut on the 6000. The truthful answer is the styling. It runs the same four stages the 7000 runs. If you are the sort of person who is never going to open that cabinet door again after install day, I am not going to talk you into paying more for a nicer looking box."

The Four Stages, Start to Finish
- Stage one, mechanical and carbon filtration. Slow moving water crosses a 5 micron graded density high capacity porous carbon filter, which protects everything downstream from dirt, rust, and sediment as small as two ten thousandths of an inch while dechlorinating with long contact time.
- Stage two, ultrafiltration. A filter fine enough to be a barrier to waterborne cysts like Cryptosporidium and Giardia if they are present, self cleaning, reducing the majority of particulate as small as a ten thousandth of a micron.
- Stage three, reverse osmosis. Water crosses the membrane and most dissolved solids do not, including sodium, selenium, arsenic and dissolved metals where present. The rejected fraction goes to the drain, the finished water is stored in a factory sanitized sealed tank.
- Stage four, activated carbon block. A high grade carbon block takes out the last of the taste and odor and reduces volatile organic compounds such as carbofuran, toxaphene, and para and ortho dichlorobenzene where those are present.
Everything runs on household water pressure. No outlet, no plug, nothing to reset.
Where the Money Goes, and Where It Does Not
Sealed quick change cartridges are standard here, so a filter swap is a twist and a lift with no leaks and no bucket. The Teflon flow control never needs cleaning. The fittings and valves are the same durable hardware used across the line. What the 6000 is not is the newest cabinet design in the catalog, and that is the difference you are paying for when you move up to the low profile MICROMAX 7000.
If your under sink space is genuinely tight, that styling difference stops being cosmetic and becomes the deciding factor. Measure before you choose, or let Gregg measure during the test.
How Much Does the MICROMAX 6000 Cost?
It is the entry price in this part of the line, and the exact figure comes after the free water test at your address. Faucet drilling, an ice maker line, and the optional alkaline stage are the three things that usually move it. No number gets quoted before somebody has actually looked at your water, which is the same rule Puronics of Orange County has run on since 2007.
Which Households the MICROMAX 6000 Fits
Budget conscious families, rentals and second properties, and any kitchen where the water complaint is taste rather than a laboratory problem. Where to look elsewhere: a high dissolved solids reading or a well supply points at the five stage MICROMAX 6500 reverse osmosis system, and a crowded cabinet points at the 7000.
Also worth saying plainly: if what is bothering you is white crust on the faucets and laundry that comes out stiff, no drinking water system will touch it. That is hardness, and it needs a home water softener system on the main line. Browse all three on the Orange County drinking water systems page, or ask Puronics of Orange County to test the water first and tell you which problem you actually have.
