What the CLARIUS iGEN Does for Your Home
It treats every tap in the house. Shower, kitchen, laundry, the outside hose bib. Water passes through SilverShield HYgene, which is activated carbon carrying embedded silver, and comes out the other side with the chlorine and chloramine taste and odor knocked down and without bacteria having set up inside the filter bed.

What the CLARIUS Will Not Do
It will not soften your water. This deserves its own heading because the old version of this website was not clear about it, and because the confusion costs people money.
Puronics states it plainly on its own no salt page: salt free water softeners do not exist. Removing hardness minerals requires ion exchange, ion exchange requires a brine cycle, and a brine cycle requires salt or potassium. Any product sold as a salt free softener is either a filter or a scale inhibitor wearing the wrong name. So if your complaint is spots on the glassware, film on the shower door, or soap that will not lather, this system will not solve it and we will tell you so before you buy. That job belongs to a whole home water softener.

The iGEN Valve and the Stainless Tank
Two things separate the CLARIUS from the cheaper end of the salt free line, and both are hardware.
- The iGEN digital control valve. A microprocessor that runs the system on measured usage rather than a timer. It keeps 60 days of water history so the backflush happens when it is actually needed, runs built in diagnostics, holds an auto reserve so treated water never runs out mid shower, and monitors the SilverShield filter and tells you when volume says it is due. The valve body is corrosion resistant one inch construction built to keep working for years without attention.
- The 316L stainless steel tank. Food grade, non permeable, sanitary. The same tank material Puronics puts on its premium softeners.
- Purifex and AltaPure. Purifex filters without stripping the calcium and magnesium that make water taste like water, and the AltaPure stage takes out suspended solids down to 5 microns.
- Silica gravel clarifier. The final polish, for clarity.

The specific number waits on your free in-home water test, because the version you need depends on whether your supply is chlorinated or chloraminated, and because household size drives capacity.
