How Scale Inhibition Works Here
ScaleMax does not filter hardness out. It rearranges it. Dissolved calcium and magnesium get converted into micro crystals, and a crystal has no affinity for the wall of a copper pipe or the element in a hot water tank, so it passes through instead of building up. Existing deposits also break down slowly over time once the water running past them has changed character.
What that buys you is equipment life. A water heater that is not accumulating a scale layer transfers heat properly and runs the way it was designed to run. What it does not buy you is a change in how water behaves at the sink, since the minerals are still dissolved in it when it arrives.
